| How may gifts be made to The Choice Project Campaign? Your gift may take one or more forms. Gifts may be made in the form of cash, or a cash pledge payable over a three-year period, or at intervals suited to your convenience. Gifts also may be made in the form of stocks, securities, real estate, or other properties. What is the length of the pledge period? Pledges may be paid over a three or more year period, beginning with the year of initiation. Payments may be made annually, semi-annually, quarterly, monthly, or as the donor prefers. Why should I make an additional pledge to The Choice Project Campaign if I am already contributing to the Annual Fund? Contributions are needed to The Choice Project to help finance the construction of our new flagship facility. However, your annual contribution is needed as much as ever to help meet the rising demand for services. We urge you to make a pledge to The Choice Project as well as to our annual fund. Why make a pledge rather than a cash donation? A pledge period is the most practical way for donors to make gifts of this magnitude, and it also enables each contributor to give generously, in keeping with personal financial resources and other financial responsibilities. Pledge payments are deductible to the full extent provided by law in each year they are made. Will I be notified when my pledge is due? We will be happy to send a reminder at intervals that you specify. We also offer the convenience of automatic withdrawals from your checking account or credit card at intervals that you determine. May I make other arrangements if I wish to change my payment schedule? Certainly. A pledge to The Choice Project Campaign is an obligation made in good faith. If circumstances change and it is your desire to adjust your payment schedule, arrangements can be made by contacting the PPTCR Development Office at (512) 275-0171, ext. 101. How will gifts to The Choice Project Campaign be used? Gifts are placed in a separate bank account to generate interest income while the remaining funds are being raised for the Education, Advocacy and Administration Building. All contributions to The Choice Project Campaign will be used to build, equip, and furnish the new complex. Restricted gifts (see "May I restrict my gift to a particular area of the project?" below) will be used only for the purposes specified. Approximately eight percent of the goal is needed for campaign expenses. Who will be asked to support the campaign? Individual donors, corporations, and foundations are being solicited for contributions and grants to fund this project. Have members of the board of directors made gifts? Members of the Board of Directors have pledged over $1,000,000 to The Choice Project Campaign. One hundred percent of them support the campaign. How was the campaign goal established? The goal relates to the amount needed to finance the construction project. The board of directors believes the initial goal is realistic and attainable based on the results of a feasibility study conducted to determine interest and support for the Development Program, the current giving level of major donors, as well as the philanthropic climate in the Austin community. How much should I give? Campaign volunteers may suggest an amount for you to consider, but of course the decision is yours. You may wish to pledge a gift over a three to five year period, to enable you to make a larger contribution. May gifts be used for commemorative purposes? Most assuredly. Gifts to The Choice Project may be made to memorialize or honor a family member, friend, business associate, corporate name, or to identify a donor's own special interest in the project. Naming opportunities are a thoughtful way for benefactors to honor relatives, friends, or institutions, and are a visible and active way for a donor to express his or her own interest in the advancement of Planned Parenthood and its programs and services. May I restrict my gift to a particular area of the project? If you wish to restrict your gift to a specific project or key program area, please indicate the restriction on the pledge card you receive. This will ensure that your contribution is properly credited and used. If the purpose of your gift is unusual, we suggest you discuss it with a development staff member before putting any restriction in writing. May I designate my gift to a Planned Parenthood project other than The Choice Project? Yes. Your own preference and guidelines will be respected. Undoubtedly your particular interests will coincide with other vital services provided by Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region. If I want to make an anonymous gift, will my wish be respected? PPTCR will accept anonymous gifts with gratitude and will, of course, protect anonymity. All such gifts will be counted in the campaign total and are tax deductible. Is my gift tax-deductible? Yes. PPTCR is a non-profit organization accorded tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) which enables donors to deduct gifts made to the affiliate to the fullest extent of tax laws. Donors should consult their own tax accountant, attorney, or financial advisor to determine the most advantageous tax or financial situation. Is my pledge binding on my estate? Only if specified by a will or a trust, but it is hoped that the estate's executor will honor the commitment. It is often found that completing a pledge payment may provide substantial tax advantages.
